M.H. Stanley Middle School is a highly rated public school based in Lafayette, CA. It has 1,227 students in grades 6-8 with a student-teacher ratio of 22 to 1. According to the state test score, 80 percent of students are at least competent in math and 84 per cent in reading.

Attendance

• Students are required to attend all classes on a regular basis. Full day absences must be verified by the parent/guardian at 927-3548 before 9:00 a.m.
• Parents may request homework from their teachers through the School Loop.
• Communicable diseases have to be reported.
• If a student has six (6) or more unverified absences in a quarter, this is considered to be extreme and may result in consequences. If an absence of five days or more is unavoidable, please apply for an Independent Study Form two weeks before your departure. Parent/guardian and student must sign and date the form.

Appointments

Students must sign up in the office before they leave the campus. Please do not report appointments to the attendance message recorder. In the event of a last-minute appointment, the parent must sign the student in the office. Students arriving late must report to the school office with a doctor's note or a parent or guardian’s notes.

If your student is going to attend a meeting, please send a note to the office stating that you are allowing your student to walk. If someone other than the student's parent is going to pick them up, please send a note with the following information: the name of the student, along with the parent's signature. As before, they're only going to call students out of class if someone is here to pick them up. If a student walks, it is their responsibility to remember to come to the office and sign up. They're not going to call them.

The Stanley After School Athletic Program prides itself on providing a supportive, positive learning opportunity for students to develop the skills necessary to participate in competitive sports. Through our comprehensive program of clinics, intramural and competitive level sports Stanley Middle School is able to produce experiences for our student athletes that instill the values of teamwork, self esteem, sportsmanship and respect.
