Strawberry Creek Park offers recreation opportunities, including basketball , tennis and volleyball, as well as a school-aged playground and picnic area.
Strawberry Creek Park was built on the Santa Fe Railroad freight yard. The creek was reopened and restored to its original location, with California native low-maintenance plantings. The park was financed with money from Measure Y, a bond passed by the voters in 1974 to meet the recreation needs of Berkeley 's citizens, and the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). The park was dedicated on the 5th of November 1983. Landscape design was awarded the highest environmental planning award in the neighborhood park category by the California Parks and Recreation Society in 1984.
Features:
With ample parking, a huge field to scam, a creek to explore, a playground, and a café on site, Strawberry Creek Park is the perfect destination for a lazy Saturday. Especially if your Saturday is so lazy you can't have a picnic.
Frog Park has College Avenue, and Live Oak Park has North Shattuck, but this location offers access to coffee within the park 's perimeter. Hidden Cafe will bring you coffee, seasonal salads and tacos. They sell snacks such as banana chips and other dry goods. Let's stay tuned to see what the guests come up with for the playground. There's a terrace with bistro tables, indoor seating and, of course, a huge square of grass on which you can spread a blanket.
If you're often out on a playground-seeking adventure with a preschooler, have lunch at Hidden Cafe. Strawberry Creek Park is located one block south of Addison University Ave. Also accessed where Allston 's dead ends right after Bonar. Strawberry Creek Park has no relationship to the Strawberry Canyon Pool. Keep exploring to find basketball courts and a public toilet. Cyclists and strollers can take the West Street path to the park. This park has a popular dog area for locals, and if you follow the path, it takes you to Strawberry Creek and an older play structure with a fun slide.
